The PABX Experts Services
Three main considerations need to be addressed when considering a new or replacement PABX system…
What size? - What Features? What type of installation…? Cordless? Wired? Or joining a computer network? Or mixed?
There is one thing we discover time and time again!!! People often spend way too much money on features they never use!!
Some things to think about:
- Line types – Analogue or ISDN lines? Or VoIP SIP trunks? Or a mixture? Talk to us!
- Line features e.g. Direct Dial Numbers (DDI’s)? Or Pilot Lines with stepping? Or both?
- Be careful when setting up Automatic Operator features. This can easily annoy your customers if you don’t follow the golden rules! Talk to us!
- Keyphones with labelled one-touch buttons make life easy. Ordinary phones are often cheaper, but sometimes difficult to use and long code numbers are often needed to access features so they are often not used.
- Get good training and develop good habits especially when using Voicemail… Customers greatly appreciate having their calls returned promptly.
- Back up service is important and should continue to be available well after the warranty expires.
- Expansion – Never buy a PABX with all available ports used up from day one!

VoIP Solutions Specialists
Be careful with this technology!!! Many businesses are lured into connecting their existing phone numbers on to VoIP “SIP” trunks via the internet… Although the monthly savings may be a compelling reason to use VoIP, your customers will quickly tire from trying to use voice contact to reach you if the QOS (Quality of Service) is poor. One-way speech, echoing and delayed speech can occur in some areas.
So what is SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)?
- SIP consolidates the existing Analogue lines and your internet connection onto a single circuit typically allowing businesses that have IP-PBXs to combine their voice and data services onto a SIP-based trunk rather than use ISDN or analogue phone line connections.
- Our LG-Ericsson iPECS Phone System has 4 SIP Trunk connections built in (along with conventional line connection ports) and can be activated anytime as part of your ADSL2 connection if you enjoy reliable internet connection in your area.
- This can offer huge monthly call savings as both pabx services use single infrastructure. Gradual improvement of internet connection is on the roadmap for New Zealand.
- We recommend connecting a single SIP Trunk to your PABX ($15 per month) as a trial – We can arrange this for you and you could enjoy huge savings on outgoing call costs!
